Sometimes you need to react to the fuel theft alarm very fast. For example, in a case of a robbery.

Eurosens Dominator RS fuel level sensor has built-in fuel theft detection feature and extra discrete output we may use as fuel theft alarm output. Smart GPS tracker able to analyze fuel theft alarm status together with current speed of the vehicle and avoid false alarms.

Eurosens Dash resistive fuel level sensor emilator is designed to control the fuel gauge on the dashboard. Eurosens Dash reads the fuel level (volume) value via the RS-485 interface and the LLS protocol.

A typical application of the device is when installing a capacitive Eurosens Dominator RS fuel level sensor instead of a standard float resistive sensor of a truck directly into its hole. This eliminates the procedure for drilling the tank. In this case, the Eurosens Dash emulator is connected in parallel with the GPS tracker.

Eurosens Dash also generates a signal to control the low fuel alarm lamp.

Popular GPS trackers Smart produced by Navtelecom company has built-in Bluetooth module. It can read the data from wireless Bluetooth sensors. Here is how to connect wireless fuel level sensor Eurosens Dominator Bt to the Smart GPS tracker.

1. Server data protocol settings

Open Smart configuration and switch ON level/temperature and Frequency fields on the Protocol settings/RS-485 tab.

2. Setting up the RS485 interface.

Although it looks strange because we don’t use RS485 with wireless sensors but actually Smart GPS sends bluetooth fuel level sensor data to server in same data fields with RS485 fuel level sensor. So to configure data protocol we have to switch ON the necessary number of RS485 fuel level sensors. For example, our sensor will be recognized as virtual fuel level sensor on RS485 line (address №6).

Smart STM32-based electronic module of Eurosens Dominator fuel level sensor now can detect fuel fheft event and change the state of alarm discrete output.
You can use this signal as an alarm input of your GPS tracker or connect relay.

Major advantage is faster response compared with GPS tracking platform fuel theft detection. Driver can be informed by SMS about fuel theft and it will be not too late.

Usual Dominator RS/Dominator CAN can be used. K-line/OUT wire – alarm output. Depending from connection you can switch built-on Pull-up resistor ON/OFF.
Fuel theft threshold (max. fuel consumption in liters per hour) must be set in confugiration software. And tank calibration table must be stored inside sensor.

RS485 serial interface is used.

As soon as GPS tracker polls sensor to get data and sensor replying - Eurosens Display must work in "passive" mode and make only RS485 line monitoring.

2. Eurosens Dominator firmware v.2.5 or newer
3. Eurosens Display configuration software v.0.9 or newer
